Welcome to the Domaine d'Emmanuel DarnaudComing from a family of arboriculturists, Emmanuel Darnaud knows how to work the land and the difficulties that go with it. But that hasn't discouraged him.
After studying with Bernard Faurie, owner of Hermitage and Saint Joseph, he fell in love with the place. In 2001, he started his own business, starting with 1.5 hectares of leased vines in the Crozes-Hermitage appellation south of Tain l'Hermitage.
Passionate, he will continue to grow year after year, his estate now covers 15 hectares in the communes of La Roche de Glun, Pont de l'Isère and Mercurol.
Since 2011, he has been continuing the work of his father-in-law and mentor Bernard Faurie, from whom he bought Les Vieilles Vignes de Saint-Joseph on the steep "La Dardouille" site.
Emmanuel vinifies each of his parcels separately to bring out the subtleties and lively expressions of the terroir.
His trademark for the reds, a skilful dosage respecting the balance between fruitiness and maturation so that his wines are not dominated by the barrel, and so far we can say that it has been a success.
